unholy-ghost:

It makes me so mad to hear someone say “I think women should only be able to have abortions if they were raped.”

It singlehandedly proves that the person speaking doesn’t care about the unborn child- he or she just wants the woman to have to have a baby as punishment for her actions.

Oh, you had premarital sex? Well, you can keep the baby, whether you want to or not, as punishment for breaking my moral code. Oh, you were raped? That’s so sad, I’m perfectly fine with you having an abortion.

You aren’t pro-life. You’re pro-punishment. And pro-forcing-your-beliefs-onto-other-people.

What would happen, for instance, if suddenly, magically, men could menstruate and women could not?

The answer is clear - menstruation would become an enviable, boast-worthy, masculine event: men would brag about how long and how much … military men, right-wing politicians, and religious fundamentalists would cite menstruation (“men-struation”) as proof that only men could serve in the Army (“you have to give blood to take blood”), occupy political office (“can women be aggressive without that steadfast cycle governed by the planet Mars?”), be priest and ministers (“how could a woman give her blood for our sins?”) or rabbis (“without the monthly loss of impurities, women remain unclean”) … TV shows would treat the subject at length. (“Happy Days”: Richie and Potsie try to convince Fonzie that he is still “The Fonz,” though he has missed two periods in a row.)

If Men Could Menstruate“ by feminist icon Gloria Steinem (via ricksantorumalltheway)

Yes… because it’s not about the thing itself, it’s always about who has it. Because those who already are on top can decide what’s good and what’s bad after their own traits.

Non-sign II is an installation by seattle based art collective Lead Pencil Studio located at the Canada-US border near Vancouver. The sculpture is made from small stainless steel rods that are assembled together to create the negative space of a billboard. While most billboards draw attention away from the landscape, Non-sign II frames the landscape, focusing attention back on it.
